Gardening

Betsey Cox actively supports the environmental advantages to growing our own food. Our garden, though modest in size, produces a significant amount of the food we enjoy over the course of the summer. It also produces magnificent flowers. The garden is fully organic. Every girl at camp works 45 minutes a week in our garden where she learns what food looks like on the vine, how to grow it, and how to harvest it.

Also on camp property is the Right Mind Farm, an organic farm, owned and operated by Ed Safford and Yvonne Brunot who are two important members of our community. Ed and Yvonne welcome girls to their garden where participants learn sophisticated techniques of organic farming. Right Mind Farm operates a booth at the local Farmer’s Market. Campers who work at Right Mind Farm enjoy visiting Ed and Yvonne at the Market.

Girls are proud of the fact that we compost our food waste.
