Swimming at Betsey Cox

We believe everybody should learn to swim, especially if they can take lessons in a beautiful camp pond like our own Burr Pond!  Our swim staff are certified lifeguards and instructors of our Swim program. The program is a hybrid curriculum based on the American Red Cross swimming levels and Swim America program. Classes are kept small. We encourage girls to participate in three swimming lessons per week unless parents excuse them from this expectation.  We have a swim agreement that each camper and their families sign so we have a full understanding of their swim goals. Very few girls object to time in our waters! Free swim happens every afternoon and we take trips to local swimming spots often!

The Waterfront at Camp Betsey Cox is where I fell in love with swimming. When I was 9 I went to all my lessons and every free swim because the pond was always so fun to go to. In recent years, through camp, I have become a trained lifeguard and started teaching campers to swim. After working at the waterfront, seeing the girls improve over the summer is incredible.
